Chapter 21: Happy New Year!

2017, What a year it has been! We started the year off a little rough after learning about Alex's diagnosis. It was a lot of unknowns and quite a scary road at times. But on April 6th our little peanut entered the world and surprised us all. He has been quite the fighter! We owe so much to everyone at CHOP for saving his life.

We have watched him grow into a strong, happy little guy who loves his big brother more than anything. The bond they have created in the short almost 9 months they have known each other is amazing. We can't wait to see what kind of trouble they get into in the years to come.

Even though 2017 brought a rough start we wouldn't change anything and couldn't be more thankful for everyones love and support over the last year. We hope everyone has a happy, healthy and safe new year!

Love,
Bobby, Erica, Ben and Alex

Chapter 20: Happy Eight Months!

Eight months! I can't believe eight months have gone by. Alex has hit a few milestones since the last post. He has mastered sitting by himself and has started army crawling!!!

We have had a bit of a rough month with illness. Everyone has been sick st some point and unfortunately Alex has been sick several times. He was doing better with his intake, even taking some formula and had gained 7oz in 2 weeks! But after the most recent illness he has lost 6oz. Hoping it all ends soon and he starts to gain some weight again.

This past month Alex was baptized. It was a wonderful day! We also had a great Thanksgiving. We have so much to be thankful for.

We are excited for Christmas and have a lot of fun things planned over the next few weeks.

We have a cardiology appointment next week for an echocardiogram. Fingers crossed Alex cooperates and everything looks good!

Enjoy the pictures! We hope everyone has a nice holiday and a Happy New Year!!!

Love,
Bobby, Erica, Ben, and Alex

Chapter 19: Happy Seven Months!

Happy Seven Months to our Little Peanut! Time is certainly flying by!

Alex survived his first stomach virus at the beginning of last month, it was a long 4 days, but we were able to avoid the Emergency Room thankfully. We had an eventful month with Ben in the hospital for 2 days for cellulitis and an abscess of his arm. For once it wasn't Alex!

Alex now weighs 12lb 7.5oz. His weight gain has started to drop over the last month so we are going to start adding some formula to see if we can help him gain a little more. It has been a bit of a struggle over the last few days. Hoping he starts to like it more soon! He got his first round of the Synagis vaccine in hopes to prevent RSV, which is a nasty respiratory virus that causes cough and wheezing. And for someone like Alex, it may cause him to have problems breathing and end up in the hospital. We are hoping to avoid as many illnesses as possible this year!

He is starting to sit a little bit better, but still needs support. His main way of getting around is rolling. He is a very happy baby and loves to make noise and laugh. He now sleeps most of the night, usually just waking up once or twice to eat. He is eating some baby foods and so far his favorites are apples, sweet potatoes and avocados.

We were able to go to a local farm for a hayride and pumpkin picking. We had a great time at Freddy Hill Farms. It was even warm enough to have some ice cream after! For Halloween, Alex enjoyed his first parade at school, dressed as Superman. We also had fun trick-or-treating at Boo at the Zoo!

Just this past weekend Alex went on Mommy's annual shopping trip with her sisters and Mom. He was a great sport and didn't fuss too much with all the shopping.

We don't have another cardiology appointment until late December so no updates there but everything seems to be going well.

We hope everyone has a Happy Thanksgiving. We are so thankful for everyone who has taken care of our two boys!

Love,
Bobby, Erica, Ben and Alex
