Chapter 32: Recent cardiology visit

Happy New Year! I have been meaning to write this post for a few weeks now, but it keeps getting pushed to the following week.

Alex is doing well, aside from several viruses so far this year. We had a follow up appointment with his cardiologist right before Christmas. He now weighs 21lbs, which is crazy since this kid can eat! His echo actually looked good, things are essentially stable. This is great news after 3 months. We are now 6 months out from his last cath, so for things to look stable means we don’t need to rush back to the cath lab right now. His doctors are in agreement to move forward with a cardiac MRI in 2 months to get some more information about his heart. This does require anesthesia but, unlike the lung perfusion scans that we normally do, it does not have any radiation. It will also give them some different information. Once that is complete then we will determine the next step, but will most likely be another cath at some point in the near future.

We will be participating in the Philly Spin-In again in March. This event raises money that directly supports cardiac research and care at CHOP. Alex has had all of his care at CHOP and we love to support them especially when all the money goes directly to cardiac research and care. Please consider making a donation to support our team.
